With a professional journey spanning over 30 years in the realms of branding and marketing communications, I am thrilled to welcome you to our creative haven. As the founder and creative mind, I'm here to share my passion for graphic design, illustration, and online marketing solutions, and how they weave into the fabric of Ladybird Digital's mission.

Located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Ladybird Digital finds its inspiration in the energy of this city — a city that thrives on technology, innovation, and creativity. Over the years, I've witnessed the growing demand for exceptional visual content that bridges the gap between traditional and digital platforms. From my tenure as a Graphic Designer, Marketing Coordinator, and Webmaster at Lumonics Inc. to my role as a Creative Director and marketing and brand Strategist at Ladybird-Digital, each experience has contributed to the unique tapestry of my expertise.

Early Career Journey

My professional journey kicked off as a freelance graphic designer collaborating with the dynamic team at Artemp Personnel Agency. In this role, I undertook individual placement and contract assignments for a diverse range of companies and organizations, including:

  • Canadian International Development Agency: Crafting compelling poster designs that conveyed impactful messages.
  • Canadian Geographic: Melding design and illustration to captivate readers with visually stunning content.
  • Canadian Consumer Magazine: Infusing creativity into design and illustration, enhancing the reader's experience.
  • Canadian Hosteling Association: Creating captivating graphic designs that beckoned adventure seekers.
  • Canadian Broadcasting Corporation: Channeling artistic talent into scenic art, enriching television visuals.
  • The Canadian Wildlife Federation: Weaving design and illustration to tell the stories of our majestic wildlife.

Simultaneously, I embarked on a fast-paced creative journey at the Kanata Kourier, where I wore the hats of an ad designer and layout artist. This role taught me the art of meeting tight deadlines while delivering eye-catching advertisements.

I also made my mark at EZ Art/Rapid Graphic as a Cibachrome camera technician and production consultant, further enriching my expertise in the world of visual storytelling.

Every assignment along the way refined my ability to develop marketing and production strategies that resonated deeply with clients and their target audiences.

In a creative milestone, I hosted a solo art exhibition titled "Sticks, Stones, and Boats," showcasing over 30 naif paintings meticulously crafted by yours truly. This exhibition marked a personal triumph in my artistic journey, representing a fusion of talent and passion.


With a distinguished 17-year tenure at Lumonics, which later became GSI Lumonics Inc. and ultimately GSI Group, I played a pivotal role in shaping international corporate communications, marketing, and sales support during the company's transformative journey, including an IPO and two rebrands. As a versatile professional, I assumed various roles such as Graphic Designer, Webmaster, and Marketing Manager, spearheading an in-house agency dedicated to propelling marketing communications, sales, and engineering support for seven global manufacturing centers spanning the USA, Canada, Europe, and Asia, producing a diverse portfolio with over 150 technology products.

My mission was clear: streamline marketing processes, take a proactive approach, and significantly reduce external agency expenditures. To meet this challenge, the company established an internal corporate graphic design and consulting service, and I was entrusted with overseeing a comprehensive communications strategy through this in-house agency.

My Responsibilities Included:

  • Orchestrating a multifaceted marketing and marketing communications strategy that transcended geographical and linguistic boundaries.
  • Expertly managing a multi-language (7) corporate website, ensuring a seamless online presence for our global audience.
  • Nurturing creative teams, adeptly navigating stringent budgets, and cultivating a unified brand identity that transcended borders.
  • Overseeing the visual rebranding and dissemination of marketing and sales materials in multiple languages.
  • Crafting and executing strategic marketing plans, orchestrating successful tradeshow tactics, and more.

By late 2006, a new corporate strategy heralded the closure of all operations in Canada, with the transition of these functions to the United States. As the last Canadian employee, I had the honor of passing on the keys to the final Canadian facility to the new building owners, marking the end of a significant chapter in my career.

In 2007, Ladybird Digital emerged as a beacon of creativity, ushering in a new era. At its helm, I proudly assumed the roles of Creative Director, Marketing Expert, and Brand Strategist. Over the years, I've been privileged to guide more than seventy clients, spanning the spectrum of B2B, B2C, and non-profit sectors, on their transformative journeys towards refined identities and impactful digital presence.

These cumulative experiences have been invaluable. They've imparted the wisdom of meeting demanding deadlines, adeptly navigating shifting priorities, and forging deep collaborations with clients representing diverse industries. This rich tapestry of experiences has been instrumental in shaping Ladybird Digital into a boutique agency that thrives on adaptability and unwavering commitment to excellence.
